Winterization Kits

Community Action, Inc. will distribute free winterization kits to qualifying households later this year at its Swygart Center, 621 SE Swygart (one block east of SE California off of either SE 6th or SE 10th Sts.), Topeka, KS. The kits will be available to both homeowners and renters and will be distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis.

The kits include plastic window covering, door weather stripping, tubes of caulking, rope caulking for windows and foam inserts for behind outlet covers and switch plates.

To qualify, applicants must meet income guidelines set at or below 125% of federal poverty guidelines (for a complete listing of those guidelines, return to this website’s homepage, go to About Community Action, click on Program Income Guidelines).

Applicants will be required to provide proof of all household income for the past 30 days and social security numbers for all household members. Applicants must also complete the agency’s Consumer Intake Form and a Winterization Kit Receipt Agreement.

The program is made possible by the Community Services Block Grant through the Kansas Housing Resources Corporation.
