Winterization
Kits Community
Action, Inc. will distribute free winterization kits to qualifying
households later this year at its Swygart Center, 621 SE Swygart (one
block east of SE California off of either SE 6th or SE 10th Sts.), Topeka,
KS. The kits will be available to both homeowners and renters and will be
distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis. The
kits include plastic window covering, door weather stripping, tubes of
caulking, rope caulking for windows and foam inserts for behind outlet
covers and switch plates. To
qualify, applicants must meet income guidelines set at or below 125% of
federal poverty guidelines (for a complete listing of those guidelines,

on Program Income Guidelines). Applicants
will be required to provide proof of all household income for the past 30
days and social security numbers for all household members. Applicants
must also complete the agency’s Consumer Intake Form and a Winterization
Kit Receipt Agreement. The
program is made possible by the Community Services Block Grant through the
Kansas Housing Resources Corporation. For
